Athena, Mirabella, Maltese Falcon; Three Queens of Luxury Yachts

Mirabella

The three largest luxury private sailing yachts in the world; Athena, Maltese Falcon and Mirabella V, they all represent incredible feats of design, engineering and yacht building – and all are completely unique in the world of yachting. Their huge size and technical pedigree, however, is perhaps the only direct comparison that can be made. These luxury yachts may be chartered from between 275,000 USD – 500,000 USD per week, plus expenses.

This huge square rigger (length: 88.00m) is the newest and the most popular yacht to join the big three. Maltese Falcon represents a departure from traditional yacht design, from a naval architecture and engineering standpoint, as well as an interior design one. It’s a very modern yacht and like the rest, quite unique in the yachting world.

By far the largest sloop in the world (length: 75.22m) Mirabella was launched in 2004 to much fanfare. There is nothing to compare to Mirabella as far as ‘orthodox’ sailing sloops are concerned. Large enough to accommodate a double-decker bus in her hull.

Athena (length: 90.00m)  is a traditionally inspired ‘modern classic’ and is the largest of the three by gross tonnage (1,177 tons). She is the pride of the Royal Huisman. Although classically inspired, and the largest, Athena is also an exponent of modern technology with her very impressive 18.9 knots cruise speed
